As a producer, being in that room from the very first brainstorm is not only one of my favourite parts of the job, but one of the most invaluable. Here’s why:
1. You’re there from the very start
When a producer joins early, we hear how ideas form, understand the intention behind them and help shape them into something that’s both inspired and achievable.
2. Keeping the client front of mind
When creative energy is flowing, it’s easy for ideas to grow bigger and bolder than the original brief. That’s part of what makes the process exciting. But sometimes in the chase for innovation, it can be easy to lose sight of what the client truly wants and needs. Being in the room means we can gently guide the creative back toward the purpose, keeping the work meaningful and relevant to the client.

3. Budget smart, dream big
When producers are involved early, we can help shape ideas that are ambitious but still achievable. It’s not about limiting creativity, it’s about finding smart ways to make it happen within the resources available so the end result looks amazing and is doable.
4. Collaboration and clarity
Being in the room builds trust and momentum. Everyone can share ideas openly, ask questions and spot potential challenges early. We can then help translate those ideas into clear, practical steps so nothing gets lost between the creative and the delivery. It’s how projects move forward smoothly and everyone stays on the same page from start to finish.

Aaron Burr wanted to be in the room where it happens. Producers know we need to be. Because when we’re in the room, we keep the vision clear, the team connected and ensure great ideas become great work.
